Golf Performance Training Program
With spring and summer right around the corner, Total Athlete Performance is now offering a golf performance program geared towards the amateur and competitive golfer alike.
All golfers go through a free initial joint-by-joint assessment as well as a lower and upper body movement screen to analyze. After gathering necessary information, our programs are designed to develop mobility, stability, strength, and power to help golfers of all skill levels improve their game.
So what exactly does a golfer need to be consistent and successful on the course? To start, you need to be pain free. Confidence in the ability to swing the way that you are supposed to for a full round without any limitations. The repeated action of the golf swing can create muscular imbalances within the body and result in added stress to the low back, knees, shoulders, elbows, and wrists. Many golf injuries are a common result of swinging at high speeds with poor mobility and reduced proprioceptive feedback (body awareness).
Our individualized programming addresses and corrects any limitations through detailed mobility, stability, and fundamental movement patterns. In addition to addressing mobility and stability needs, another important aspect of programming for golfers is MAINTENANCE. Sometimes we don’t need to make major changes, but instead just keep the tires fresh and the engine running efficiently.
Our golf programs will include specific core strengthening exercises through anti-extension and anti-rotation to promote spinal integrity and total body coordination. Fundamental movement patterns are taught and coached in detail, leading to a more resilient athlete. Rotational power exercises are integrated for noticeable improvements in movement patterns, energy transfer, and shot distance.
